Pedro Satlher

Growing up between Brazil and Europe shaped the way I see space — the warmth of one culture, the precision of the other. That contrast is what I carry into every project.

I came to interior design by a long road. I trained as a building technician in Brazil — construction, technical drawing, structures — before a first career in dentistry and aesthetic medicine, where I spent years learning how faces, proportion and a millimetre of restraint change the way a person is read. Then my partner and I founded Touriga, a Portuguese restaurant in Lippstadt, and I designed every room of it myself. Running a restaurant floor teaches you what a plan is for.

Today I work in a premium furniture and interior house near Bielefeld — B&B Italia, Foscarini, edra — developing concepts for high-end clients, while completing a BA (Hons) in Interior Design. I plan in Rhino, pCon.planner, SketchUp and AutoCAD and visualise in Enscape.

HRED began as a personal unease. Technologies that were promises five years ago are now operating in dining rooms, hospital corridors and hotel floors, faster than our practices update. A professional has two choices: wait for the change and adapt to what is left, or go and meet it. I chose the second, and wrote a book so that the choice would have a shape.
